blue houseCome experience two wonderful months in Tepoztlan, Mexico, 1.5 hours outside of Mexico City.   Develop your understanding of community midwifery as practiced in Mexico, and learn the skills and perspectives of an international midwife. On-site Program Coordinator leads you through a well-structured, intensive learning process with emphasis on human connection and reflection to hone your values as a midwife. Tepoztlan is a breathtaking colonial mountain town surrounded by volcanic cliffs, where cobblestone streets bordered by hand-built stone walls cascade with bougainvillea and flowers of all kinds. Program includes:

  1. Intensive academics with NCM faculty member/program coordinator
  2. Spanish language classes with midwifery focus
  3. Clinical rotations and home-stays with local midwives
  4. Beautiful, tranquil accommodations in a family home with lush grounds outside of the town center
  5. Exquisite home-cooked daily meal and weekly cooking lessons provided by local cooks
  6. Three full-day field trips to local points of interest
  7. Local hikes and excursions to pyramids, churches, fiestas, craft markets, temazcals (sweat lodges) swimming, exploring, friendship gatherings
  8. Contact with Mexican healthcare providers, healers, and community organizers

 

Total price for two-month program: $5,000

Price includes:

Student must bring her own spending money, long-distance phone card, medical insurance, and willingness to learn about another culture rather than imposing her own cultural values.
